There are several fiestas in Denia, but the most well-known are the Fallas celebrations that take place all across Valencia and culminate in the "nit del foc" fireworks display and La "cremà," which involves burning the enormous, colorful sculptures (or "Fallas") that have been painstakingly constructed over the course of the year. The 'Festa Major', the largest local celebration, takes place in July. This includes pyrotechnics of course, but also gala parades and religious events.
There are many sites to see, including the 16th-century castle, which was once the Marquis of Denia's home, with its breathtaking views of Denia, the 14th- and 15th-century hermitages of Sant Joan, Santa Paula, and Santa Luca, the 18th-century church of the Asunción, the 17th-century Atarazanas (dockyards), and the cloister and church of San Antonio.
Denia also boasts a José Maria Olazabal-designed 18-hole golf course in La Sella, which is adjacent to the town.
